  Katy Allgeyer

KATY ALLGEYER (a.k.a. Fishgirl) has twenty+ years of Feng Shui expertise, which she blends with her highly developed intuitive ability, metaphysical shamanic healing methods, and formal art and design training that make her uniquely qualified to help people realign their environment to support their full potential.

Her first career after graduating from New York City’s Fashion Institute of Technology, where she studied art and fashion design, was in the garment industry where she most notably worked for fashion icon Liz Claiborne. Katy specialized in knitwear design and that required her to travel frequently to the Far East to follow-up on her designs at the factories where they were made. In Hong Kong, she encountered Feng Shui for the first time in 1983 when Liz Claiborne introduced her to it. Liz and her husband–like fellow entrepreneur Donald Trump– attributed much of their company’s phenomenal success to their incorporation of Feng Shui principles.

Intrigued, Katy began studying the Feng Shui arts in Taiwan and Hong Kong while traveling to the Far East over 99 times. Her teachers quickly realized Katy had a natural gift when she reported having accurate dreams about Feng Shui clients and problem locations prior to actually meeting them or seeing their spaces. She began her professional practice gradually at first, helping friends and family, eventually deciding to leave the fashion business to pursue her love of Feng Shui full time.

Katy had been based in California for 16 years and relocated in 2007 to the east coast. Katy’s practice is not limited to her physical location. Clients have a choice of on-site consultations (Katy is available to travel to your location) or off-site inspection of floor plans etc that is accomplished through mail, email, and phone. Katy has managed to integrate many talents into her practice. A disciplined fine artist, her conceptual art installation entitled, “WALL OF LOVE: The Art of Feng Shui” was first exhibited in Los Angeles and then included in the 2003 Kunstkreuz art festival in Berlin, Germany. Katy is a contributing editor for “Working World Magazine” with her “Feng Shui At Work”, “Working Healthy”, and “Webworks” columns. Katy’s articles on a broad variety of subjects from feng shui to fine art have appeared in numerous magazines.

With her wry sense of humor, Katy does not believe in taking herself, or life, too seriously. Case in point, her nickname “Fishgirl” which derives from a combination of astrology (she’s got both Moon and Sun in Pisces) and a tendency to make fish-lips while sleeping. That being said, a former Batman (Adam West) introduced Fishgirl as “a mysterious Feng Shui enchantress” when she made a guest appearance as a Feng Shui “guru” on the G4 cable television channel.

The Feng Shui By Fishgirl Blog was created to bring an understanding and practice of feng shui principles to a wider audience. Katy consults globally and is open to professional opportunities in feng shui, writing, fine art, and design. See also: Katy Allgeyer Art & Design Studio at www.katyallgeyer.com.
