THE BUSY TRAP

Here’s a post you *must* find time to read: how we create our own sense of importance by constantly overbooking ourselves to be “too busy” to get together with friends, enjoy life, etc. I think author Tim Kreider is on to something here and I plan to give a copy of his article to all my superbusy friends. I’d write more on the subject but he’s said it wonderfully and after all, I’m too busy: click here for full article.

Take time out to enjoy life! Don’t overbook yourself and miss your life while it’s actually happening. At the end, you won’t say “I wish I had worked more”.

WANNA LIVE IN A MARKED DOWN CASTLE?

Photo from New York Times Magazine

Did you see this photospread in the New York Times Sunday Magazine yesterday? Click here: Europe’s Starter Castles – Slide Show – NYTimes.com. There are castles all over Europe for sale at drastically reduced prices. Seems even Prince Charming lost money in the stock market and needs to unload his country home. You can buy the one above for 30% off what they wanted for it last year. Feng Shui concerns might be removing residual energy from ghosts, getting the place warmed up enough to feel comfy, and furnishing such a large place with enough stuff so it doesn’t feel empty.

COULD YOU LIVE IN ONE TINY ROOM?

Photo detail borrowed from NYT.

Check out A.G. Sulzberger’s article in the NYT today about the dwindling number of affordable housing units and the contrast in one building between the tenants above and the clientele at the restaurant below. How would you decorate and manage your possessions if you lived in a Single Room Occupancy (SRO) in NYC?
