The Village Underground group in London had the brilliant idea to provide affordable studio space to artists. It was achieved by repurposing subway cars and placing the cars up on a warehouse roof. As you can see from the photos, some of the cars are side by side and some are even stacked. The interiors are clean and simple. (They remind me of our vintage Airstreams) The group also has communal space that is shared for exhibitions and performances. I can feel the good feng shui energy vibrating off the website! Recycled, repurposed, and very cool. I sure would be inspired if i could work out of one of those studios!
Me, too! Although I am superlucky enough to have my own fab studio in two locations…it must be exhilirating to work from the double decker subway car at the top with views of London. Thanks for commenting, River!
