BEST INTENTIONS (Dreaming Your Dream Job)

Remember when we were kids and we used to play pretend? Sometimes we pretended what we wanted to be when we grew up. For every policeman and soldier out there today is a kid who loved to play with waterpistols in the backyard. A lot of nurses and paramedics once were aces at “playing doctor”. Many firemen were little boys who dreamed of becoming firemen when they got big enough. Dream jobs—wouldn’t it be great if we could all be working our dream jobs? Why can’t we?!

If you’re stuck in that proverbial rut at a job you hate with a boss you like even less, well, chances are you have lost touch with your long-ago childhood dream. Or, having realized the dream, you found it was not exactly what you thought it would be (long hours, impossible deadlines, and low pay just aren’t in the realm of a child’s imagination!).

Do you work in your dream job?

Do you work in your dream job?

Feng shui principles incorporate the belief that if we set our intentions, we will eventually manifest the goals that we set. Just how do we set intentions? First, we need to know what exactly it is that we want. If I were to ask you what you want from your work life, would you simply say “More money! Less work!” or would you say “I want a job that fulfills me!” or perhaps “I want to make a difference and feel appreciated for the work I do!”. All of these are valid intentions.

Close your eyes and go back in time. What did you always think you might do when you grew up?Ask yourself did your world revolve around reading books or did you spend a lot of time at the video arcade? Did you enjoy being outdoors or were you at your best sitting at a table with your coloring books? Were you the ringleader of your group of friends or were you the shy one? The answers to these questions might give you clues as to what activities in the workplace you are most suited to. Set your intentions to find a new dream job. Yes, I know the economy is in the toilet and you might feel lucky to have any job at all. Sometimes we need motivation to follow our dreams and hitting rock bottom can be a real opportunity to just GO FOR IT!

I love it! Half of getting to our goals is just to know what our goals ARE. I agree completely….dare to dream!
