CREATE & ATTRACT A TEMPLATE FOR YOUR LIFE

Portrait of Me (c) Katy Allgeyer

This is my self portrait that I painted about 5 years ago. I think of it as a template that represents what I feel my life purpose is and what I wanted to attract to myself that had yet to happen. Many of the words that I used buried in the paint describe positive traits, feelings, places I’ve been or want to travel to, talents, things I believe in…you get the drill. Creating a self portrait out of words that resonate and have meaning for you can be a powerful self-discovery journey as well as a wonderful feng shui boost. Not only can you choose words and images that already make up who you are, but, you can also use words to bring in what you want to create and attract to your life. Words are symbols and hold a certain vibration energy. You don’t have to be a painter to create a self portrait of words. You don’t even have to put the words into a recognizable form or face. Instead, you can arrange the words on a large poster board. Collect magazines and then just cut out the words and phrases that make up “you”. You can also use picture images of opportunities you wish to manifest. Do not include negative words, negative images. For example, even if pain has been a part of your life, you don’t want to focus on it in your Portrait/Vision Board. You’d want to use words like “healthy” and “pain-free” and “joyful” instead. Remember, you’re very consciously selecting the words that represent exactly who you are and what you want to create in your life. Here’s how to get started–jump to Christine Kane’s blog for excellent instructions on how to make your own Vision Board. I can report that several of the symbolic words I imbedded into my painting did come into being in my life. Like what? I have two art studios now in different states. I am in a healthy loving relationship. And I only allow people in my life who have my highest good in mind. What does your life template look like?

My Boyfriend’s Neckties Get New Life as a Quilt

tiequilt

Idea: Recycle unused neckties into a beautiful quilt.

How to: Select your ties, open up the back center seams, press them flat, merrow finish the edges, arrange them on a piece of cloth of your choice (I used velvet), baste them in place (necessary because most ties are cut on the bias which makes the grain shift when sewing them down later), sew them down permanently (I used machine but some traditionalists might want to hand sew). Back the quilt with another fabric (I used a chenille throw), finish edges.

Quilts are works of art and represent loving hands at home—always great energy and that’s good feng shui!
